Adomya (Assam) Movie Release on 5th Dec 2014

Adomya (অদম্য) narrates the story of Juri (Pranami Bora), who had to face the brunt of widowhood just after six months of getting married. Her husband proved to be an AIDS patient and she too got infected. Virtually thrown out of her in-laws' home, she went back to her village where she gave birth to a girl but there too Juri had to go through social ostracism. Even her daughter was not spared though she tested negative. Her only hope rested with her child, but not without emotional and other challenges which she fought back with great courage and conviction.

The film narrates the story of Juri, a single mother of a girl. She had to face the brunt of widowhood just after six months of getting married to a young engineer who got confirmed of having infected with AIDS virus. She was also tested positive in HIV test, virtually thrown out of her in-laws' home depriving of all rightful bliss a pregnant woman should have. But after arriving at her birth place she had to go through ordeals, being socially boycotted for being a HIV patient. Even her new-born child was ostracized by the village-folks though she tested negative. Juri went to town, earned all by herself and through her sheer determination, hardship and resilience her daughter Jonak could be saved from false pride of middle-class snobbery and dislocation in a claustrophobic situation. Through her kid she could fulfill her dreams, but not without emotional challenges, dreadful solitude and social stigma which she fought back with great courage and conviction. Poignantly related in a subtle joined-up flash-back and forward, the film is an introspection of mother-daughter relation against hostile and selfish turn-around of events in the life of a young AIDS survivor in an urban milieu.
