Aligarh, a Bollywood movie based on the real life incident of Dr. Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras, suspended his job because of sexual orientation. He worked as the professor of Marathi at the Aligarh Muslim University. He stood for the Homosexuals and for the Human rights on behalf of the Homosexuals. After successfully appealing his suspension, he  was deceased in suspicious circumstances. 

Aligarh was premiered in Europe at its 59th BFI London Film Festival on 10 October 2015. The response was a speculative, superlative and the film garnered excellent reviews. It was titled as 'A subtle, sensitive takeover on a controversial real-life court case involving the victimization of a gay college professor. The British Film Institute, reivewed as 'Whats On' on Aligarh and stated as the on the best films yet in the Indian cine history of Indian gay male experience. British film critic writters awarded four stars and stated as "The film has striking layers of global resonance.

Aligarh was permiered in Mumbai at the 17th JioMAMI Mumbai Film Festival on 30th October 2015. The response from the audience was GooseBumps and overwhelming. Meenakshi Shedde, award-winner critic writter says in her Mid-Day reivew, 'Aligarh is masterfully directed and it is one of the rarest films that courageously stands for human rights, including those of homosexuals'. Aseem Chhabra, Celebrated columnist in his rediff.com reviewed as 'Aligarh is a very important film, a milestone in Indian cine history that should start the much needed conversation about how India treats a visible and yet often ignored minority group'.

 
Manoj Bajpai and Rajkummar Rao are the main roles in the movie. Manoj Bajpai as Siras and Rajkummar Rao as journalist.Film was being shoot in Bareilly, Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Film is going to released on 26 February 2016.
