A criminal case has been filed against Indian cricketer Amit Mishra for abusing and attempting to outrage modesty of a female friend and Mumbai based film producer Vandana. Police registered an FIR (first information report) against Mishra on September 27 and issued a notice asking him to appear before investigating officer within a week.
Vandana has alleged that she was attacked in a five-star hotel in Bengaluru on September 25 while Mishra was in the city to attend a cricket camp. The woman in her complaint claimed she and Mishra were friends for over four years and would often meet each other.
On September 25th, she entered Mishra's hotel room when he was not around and this resulted in an argument when he arrived. The argument turned violent and Mishra allegedly beat her with a tea kettle. If Mishra is proved guilty in the case, then he will be sentenced to jail for 7 or more years.
The 33-year-old leg spinner Mishra is part of India's ODI squad and was also named for the first two Tests against South Africa.
