Until Srimanthudu's release, the popular Bollywood production cum distribution house Eros International's record in south was pathetic to say the least with a string of disasters. Even Mahesh's fans were apprehensive when Eros acquired Srimanthudu's distribution rights just a few days before its release. But now, Eros' fortunes have changed forever with the blockbuster success of Srimanthudu.
Srimanthudu's sensational box-office performance, along with yet another blockbuster, Salman Khan's Bajarangi Bhaijaan, has now boosted Eros International's number at the sensex in the second quarter. Jyoti Deshpande, group CEO and MD of Eros International, is upbeat about Srimanthudu grossing 100 plus crore, enhanced by Bajarangi Bhaijaan's 500 plus gross.
With a 48.85% increase in the net profit at 53.35 crore for the first quarter, the total income from its operations inflated 95% to the tune of Rs. 472.48 crore. While Eros released Srimanthudu in more than 2000 screens worldwide, even more screens were allotted for Bajarangi Bhaijaan. In the first quarter, Eros tasted a huge success through Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
