The first film to feel the pinch was director Vijay Prasad's Neer Dose which stars also Jaggesh, Suman Ranganathan and Dattanna. Controversy erupted on Friday when Jaggesh went public on Twitter with his displeasure at the way the actress was treating her film commitments.
By Saturday, his comments had spread like wildfire. After being elected to Parliament from Mandya, Ramya has been busy with party meetings and events.
Apparently, the shooting of Neer Dose, which started in March, had to be halted because Ramya chose to contest the elections. Since then, rumours are floating that Ramya will quit acting. The latest on it is that she has now returned the signing amount to the producers of Neer Dose.
Jaggesh reacted to this and tweeted that if at all Ramya is opting out of the film, she should be asked to bear the cost of whatever had been spent on the movie so far. Director Vijay Prasad said, "I have also been hearing about Ramya not being a part of Neer Dose but I haven't spoken to her since she became an MP. I used to coordinate with her secretary Kanika, but now even she is not answering my calls. I have only 40 per cent of the film to be shot and most of the sequences in it require Ramya."
He said he has now left it to the producers to take a call. "The crew of Neer Dose are busy with other projects. It is my dream project and I hope Ramya doesn't shatter my dreams," he said.
